Synopsis by Judd Blaise
En route to decontaminate the planet Arianis, the starship Enterprise encounters a stolen and badly damaged spacecraft, in this episode of the landmark science fiction series. The crew beams aboard the craft's sole occupant -- Lokai, a half-black and half-white fugitive -- only to be instantly confronted by his pursuer, the like-colored Bele. Kirk and his men soon discover that an intense personal vendetta exists between the two residents of Cheron -- one which could lead to destruction as Bele assumes control of the Enterprise and threatens to destroy it. This episode boasts a thinly disguised social message, as the Enterprise crew ultimately discovers that the vendetta is motivated by the Cheron residents' superficial racial differences -- one is black on the left side of his body and white on the right, while the other has the colors reversed.
