Synopsis by Mark Deming

Former leader of the new wave band Wall of Voodoo, Stan Ridgway collected 14 of his best little-known or unreleased tunes for his 2002 Holiday in Dirt, and then invited a handful of talented filmmakers to create short films around the framework of his songs. Stan Ridgway: Holiday in Dirt is not a typical collection of "music videos," but a darkly witty collection of images married to Ridgway's superb songs. Selections include "Beloved Movie Star," "Bing Can't Walk," "Garage Band '69," "Foundering," "Whatever Happened to You," and many more.
