Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

Joseph Stalin (b. 1879, d. 1953) ruled Soviet Russia from (approximately) 1927 to 1954 and added territory to the Soviet empire. He is also believed to have been directly responsible for the death of an incredible number people under his rulership, making Hitler look like something of an amateur in the genocide racket. However, like Hitler, even today he has his impassioned supporters. This documentary focuses on those who have something good to say about Stalin and life in Russia under his rule. The filmmaker is not uncritical, as his screening of images of sheep simultaneously with a discussion of reasons for Stalin's popularity indicates. Nonetheless, he gives viewers a close look at this peculiarly Russian kind of "extreme right-winger."
