Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two youngsters try to find a place of safety and stability after striking out on their own in this independent drama. An 11-year-old boy (Tucker Sears) and his nine-year-old sister (Savanna Sears) have run away from home and are wandering the back roads of Texas, trying to avoid being sent home for reasons that are never made clear. As they drift into a small town, the children discover an old abandoned house; while it's vacant and drafty, it at least provides them with shelter from the elements as winter approaches, and they make it their temporary home. As the siblings find themselves with a place to stay at night, they experience a contentment they haven't known since they left home, and they're able to escape the recurring thoughts of their former lives. The first feature film from writer and director David Lowery, St. Nick received its world premiere at the 2009 South by Southwest Film Festival.
