The purity of the seventeenth century musical Passions lives on in composer Arvo Part's Latin-voiced adaptation of the eighteenth and nineteenth chapters of The Gospel According to St. John. Directed by Christopher Swann and starring Paul Hiller, this staging of St. John's Passion was captured live on camera during a 1988 performance at Durham Cathedral. Conductor Paul Hillier leads the Hilliard Ensemble, the Evangelist Quartet, and the Western Wind Choir.
