Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

An involved political allegory, this film was not released in Bulgaria until the government there ceased to be communist-ruled. In the story, a grandmother in a remote town is the station master for its railroad stop. The last train to make a stop there was over two years ago, and there is talk of closing down the station. All the same, she dresses in her uniform and goes to work everyday, signalling the train as is passes by. Things take a turn for the better, perhaps, when a stranger comes into the station, demanding a ticket on the next train. She is very happy to fill his request. However, when the train actually arrives (almost a day later), the passenger pretends to be asleep, and misses the train. Soon afterward, she finds out that her only customer is probably a murderer that everyone is looking for. For a variety of reasons, she doesn't turn him in.
