Many years before teaming up with Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy was the big half of a few other comic duos. In the mid-1910s, his partner at Vim was Billy Ruge, although calling them "partners" is perhaps stretching it a bit -- while they appeared in many films together, Plump (Hardy) and Runt (Ruge) weren't always pals -- just as often they were rivals or had little to do with each other. The latter's the case in this one-reel comedy, which (as you might guess) uses spaghetti as its main comic prop. Runt has an Italian restaurant and, much to his frustration, all the employees are more interested in romancing the cashier (Ray Godfrey) than they are in working. The chef (Harry Burns) and a customer (Joe Cohen) come to a violent disagreement, so Runt winds up looking for a new chef. He hires Plump, who also falls in love with the cashier. The customer isn't any more thrilled with Plump's cooking and this results in a big spaghetti fight. Plump and the cashier make an escape, leaving Runt to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous pasta.
