Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Debaki Bose directs this melodrama about the social ills of capitalism. Family patriarch Ramesh gets embroiled in a village blood feud, resulting in bandits breaking into their house one day and kidnapping his wife Roma and their infant son. While Roma gets spirited away, her son gets abandoned in the woods. Years later, Roma is working as a nurse for a rich industrialist. Unbeknownst to her, Roma's teenaged son lives in an abandoned tenement a couple blocks away, where he and his fellow indigents dream about opening a soap factory, while her husband lives in the vicinity, too, eking an existence out by panhanding. Through a series of improbable events, the family is reunited and Roma's boss agrees to fund the soap factory.
