Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The British sitcom Son of the Bride was a variation on the "tied to Mom's apron strings" school of comedy. True, middle-aged bachelor Neville (Terry Scott) lived with his slightly domineering Mum (Mollie Sugden), but it was he, not she, who liked the set-up and didn't want anything to change. Things took an interesting turn when Mum fell in love with Stan (George A. Cooper), a widower. In a panic, the possessive Neville began scheming to break up his mother's romance -- and continued to scheme all the way up to the wedding day. The six 30-minute episodes of Son of the Bride were broadcast by BBC1 from June 6 to July 11, 1973.
