Synopsis by Violet LeVoit
An examination of what solitary confinement is like in various detention centers across the United States. Candid interviews with inmates reveal how they came to be locked up in solitary confinement, and how they struggle to maintain their sanity in such an isolated existence. The film was shot by director Kristi Jacobson over the course of a year, as a way to explore whether solitary confinement is "cruel and unusual punishment."
