Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Swedish star Edvard Persson (aka Edvard Person) was at the peak of his popularity in the late 1930s, insuring an excellent box-office performance for Soder om Landsvagen (Song of the Highway). The story is predicated on the fact that the Swedish east-west highway divides the country neatly into two separate territorial and social regions. Persson plays a farmer on the "agrarian" side of the highway, whose livelihood and property is threatened by covetous villains from the "industrial" side. The basic plot is flexible enough to accommodate no fewer than three romantic subplots, a race-to-the-rescue, and a plane crash. Holding it all together is Edvard Persson, playing the comic and dramatic moments for all they're worth and then some.
