Inasmuch as her father made his millions in the laundry-detergent business, it isn't surprising that heroine Marjorie Sanford (Gladys Leslie) is known derisively as "The Soap Girl." Anxious to break into high society, Marjorie finds herself thwarted at every turn by the old-money snobs. To help his daughter realize her goal, Pa Sanford (Frank Norcross) hires a go-getting press agent named Jimmie (Harold Foshay). Capitalizing on her "Soap Girl" status, Jimmie inaugurates a splashy nationwide advertising campaign, wherein Marjorie is shown demurely relaxing in a bathtub, enjoying the benefits of her father's line of cosmetic products (this portion of the film was an unsubtle parody of the popular Ivory Soap magazine ads). Suddenly, Marjorie is socially acceptable, and as such is romantically pursued by every upper-crust lounge lizard in New York. But by this time, Marjorie could care less, since she has fallen in love with our boy Jimmie.
