Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) both receive curious e-mail messages from the Summerholt Institute. Suddenly driven by irresistable impulses, both Clark and Lana try on separate occasions to kill Chloe (Allison Mack) -- who, as it happens, has uncovered evidence of illegal mind-control research in the Summerholt lab. In other developments, Lana draws closer to the mysterious Adam Knight (Ian Somerhalder) and tries to figure out his nightmares and mood swings; and a vital link between Chloe and another well-known "girl reporter" is finally revealed.
