Synopsis by Mark Deming

Professional figure skaters team up with noted entertainers who have limited experience on the ice in this television game show. Much in the manner of the successful Dancing With The Stars, Skating With Celebrities offered a handful of well-known personalities who were matched with award-winning skaters; the duos then competed with one another in a series of pairs events in which they were required to display the standard rudiments of competitive skating. In the show's first season, which debuted on January 18, 2006, the celebrities were athlete-turned-actor Bruce Jenner, actress and weather reporter Jillian Barberie, actor Todd Bridges, singer and songwriter Deborah Gibson, comic Dave Coulier and actress Kristy Swanson. Their skating partners included Nancy Kerrigan, Tai Babilonia, Kurt Browning, John Zimmerman, Jenni Meno and Lloyd Eisler. Olympic skating champion Dorothy Hamill, journalist Mark Lund and skating instructor John Nicks were the judges. A British version of Skating With Celebrities (called Dancing On Ice) was aired in the United Kingdom at the same time the American show's seven-series run was airing in 2006.
