In the documentary Sing Me A Song, director Thomas Balmès follows the story of a teenage monk named Peyangki and how the internet’s entrance to Bhutan affected his everyday life and ways. From someone who was unsure of what electricity will bring to his community, Peyangki has developed to be a teen dependent on his smartphone. Via the app called WeChat, he was even able to forge a relationship with Ugyen, a barroom singer in Thimpu, who would sing love songs to him over the phone.
