Synopsis by Mark Deming
This western drama from the team that made True Grit -- director Henry Hathaway, screenwriter Marguerite Roberts. and producer Hal B. Wallis -- stars Gregory Peck as a gunfighter who served a seven-year stretch in prison after his partner turned on him during a bank robbery. Shortly after his release, he's saddled with the responsibility of looking after a six-year-old girl while looking for his old sidekick with revenge on his mind.
