Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The first "auto show" ever seen on cable's History Channel, Shifting Gears was hosted by auto specialist Josh Hancock, whose career has included locating just the "right" cars for action films. Hancock kept the viewer entertained by showing off some of the world's oddest transportation vehicles; guessing the sort of cars driven by randomly selected drivers simply by analyzing the drivers' personalities; rigging ordinary autos for extraordinary (and sometimes silly) stunts; and demonstrating how changing cars could also change one's life. The opening episode set the tone, with Hancock relating the curious history of the three-wheel Corbin Merlin Roadster. Shifting Gears debuted September 20, 2003.
