Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
Novelist turned director Sailajanda Mukherjee cements his filmmaking credentials with this romantic drama centering on the free-spirited rustic Ratan (Jahar Ganguly) who is in a childless marriage -- much to the chagrin of his overbearing mother who insists that he remarry. She picks out the beautiful Jaya for her son, even though the lass is in love with the local doctor. Later, Ratan clashes with the evil union president (Naresh Mitra) while Ratan's wife attempts suicide before everything reaches a happy conclusion. This film was remade in 1981 by Tarun Majumdar.
