Synopsis by Rebecca Flint Marx

Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is about to turn 35, and she and her friends find themselves thinking a lot about the concept of soul mates; are they, Carrie wonders, "a reality, or a torture device?" Samantha (Kim Cattrall) thinks she may have found her soul mate in a hunky priest (Costas Mandylor) who gets her all hot and bothered; the priest, however, has other ideas. Charlotte (Kristin Davis), for her part, continues to dedicate her energy to solving the problems of her soul mate, Trey (Kyle MacLachlan); unfortunately for her, her overly passionate husband is now convinced he has no problems. When Samantha organizes a birthday dinner for Carrie, the guest of honor ends up sitting at the restaurant alone, thanks to the tardiness of her friends; afterwards, at the coffee shop with the girls, Carrie admits that, in her solitude, she began to wish she had a special someone in her life. Charlotte suggests that the girls could be each other's soul mates, something that makes everyone feel better, and Carrie returns to her apartment to find Big (Chris Noth) waiting for her with champagne and balloons.
