Synopsis by Mark Deming

A singularly untalented murderer crosses paths with someone who knows the ropes all too well in this satiric comedy that pokes fun at vintage slasher films of the 1980s. Melvin Hubble (Charlie Fleming) is a young man who, in order to obey his father's dying request, goes into the family business. There's just one problem -- the family tradition that Melvin is to follow is becoming a serial killer, and while the guy has the will to become a multiple murderer, he's not very good at it. With his reputation at stake, Melvin stakes out the Ro Ro Ro Sorority House just as they're about to throw one of their famous parties, but while every serial killer cliché is in the cards, Melvin can't kill anyone properly. Besides, as it happens, Melvin has competition, as another, more skillful killer is already making mincemeat of the girls and their dates. Severe Injuries features cameo appearances from "scream queens" Brinke Stevens and Debbie Rochon, as well as Troma Team Pictures founder Lloyd Kaufman.
