In one of his later silent Westerns, veteran cowboy star Harry Carey played David Scanlon, a former gunfighter turned farmer, who sells the family homestead in favor of adventure in the California gold fields. Out West, David's younger brother Paul (James Morrison) falls in love with a dance-hall pianist (Trilby Clark) and is murdered by the girl's jealous suitor Ben Goring (Walter James). To catch the killer, David joins Goring's gang by posing as an outlaw. He is wounded in the head during a bank heist, and the gang kidnaps the local doctor, Shirley Chalmette (Harriet Hammond), to care for him. Despite this Medicine Woman's best efforts, David is going steadily blind, but he still manages to force Goring into signing a confession. The villain is killed in a climactic gun fight by the blind but still sure-handed David, after which Dr. Chalmette, now able to dedicate all of her attention to her patient, cures David of his blindness. The Seventh Bandit was one of six Carey Westerns produced by Charles R. Rogers for release by Pathé.
