The Sensational 70's documentary series offers viewers a look at "the best and worst" moments of the decade -- presenting excerpts from film and television to review the politics, significant events, developments in science and technology, sports, and entertainment of the time. Memorable topics from 1973 that are covered in this program include: The end of U.S. bombing in Cambodia and the official withdrawal of American ground troops from Vietnam; the second battle at Wounded Knee between American Indian activists and federal agents; the earthquake in Nicaragua; the Yom Kippur attack, and war between Israel and Egypt; the coup in Chile ousting Salvadore Allende and replacing him with Augusto Pinochet; expansion of Europe's Common Market; the gas crisis; the Watergate scandal and ensuing grand jury proceedings; the death of former president Lyndon B. Johnson; the death of painter Pablo Picasso; the naming of Reggie Jackson as the World Series' Most Valuable Player; rock stars, pop stars, and teen idols; and the rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar.
