When a reporter from a college newspaper mistakenly makes some assumptions about Jerryand George's relationship, they find themselves faced with denying that they are a gay couple. "Not that there's anything wrong with that." To make matters worse, the article is reprinted in the New York Post and soon everyone is calling about the news. When George's mother gets word, she collapses and ends up in the hospital, resulting in a scene that parodies a similar one from "The Contest." Paula Marshall and Kari Coleman guest star in this episode, which garnered Larry David an Emmy nomination. Originally airing February 11, 1993, "The Outing" was the 16th episode shot for the show's fourth season, despite being the 17th one shown.
