Memories of his mother (Atsuko Kaku) are what the son (Takahiro Tamura) seeks as he returns to their seaside home many years after her death. The two of them were playing by the sea at low tide when his mother had an attack of some kind which left her unable to avoid the rising tide. She drowned before he could find someone to rescue her. Flashbacks reveal that she was a lively, well-loved woman.
