Synopsis by Mark Deming

Filmmaker Carlo Mazzacurati celebrates one of Italy's great cities by profiling six of the people who call it home in this documentary. In Sei Venezia (aka Six Venice), Mazzacurati interviews people from all walks of life who share their love of the city, as well as their disappointments and frustrations. The subjects include Carlo Memo, an artist who talks about his work and its relation to the city; Ramiro Ambrosi, a former thief turned chef who talks about the tough side of going straight; Giovanni Galeazzi, an elderly gentleman who works in the city's archives and talks of what Venice is and what it once was; Roberta Zanchin, a hotel maid and movie buff who discusses the role of Venice in the cinema, as well as a few stars she's encountered on the job; Ernesto Canal, an amateur scientist whose archeological research has revealed new secrets of the city's history; and Massimo Comin, a boy who shares his thoughts on his parents, girls, martial arts movies, and the challenges of having a disability. Fittingly, Sei Venezia received its world premiere at the 2010 Venice Film Festival.
