Synopsis
Host Alan Alda explores how scientists and technology are helping athletes. At Canada's University of Calgary, Joan Vickers is interested in where basketball and hockey players "look when they're playing." At Arizona State University, Debbie Crews puts Alda's brain "on-line" for a putting session with the LPGA's Tina Tombs. At Boston's Fenway Park, Alda is shown technology that can help umpires tell balls from strikes (no, it's not eyeglasses). And on France's Cote d'Azur he meets a diver who can hold his breath for seven minutes.
