Synopsis by Betsy Boyd

Savage Earth: Waves of Destructiondocuments the destructive power of tsunami waves, in all their explosive might. A PBS video, the program explains that tsunamis are very different from ordinary wind-driven waves; tsunamis are triggered by volcanic eruptions, landslides, earthquakes, and sometimes the impacts of comets or asteroids. A tsunami equals a vast volume of sea water, the simple source of its dangerous power. These waves are monsters of the open ocean, trains of huge waves that can surge for thousands of miles and still pack enough punch to crush towns. Via dramatic footage and well-spoken narration, this video educates the viewer on plenty of scientific tsunami facts and entertains with striking footage.
