Synopsis by Mark Deming
In this streetwise drama from Poland, two young men working for a loan shark meet their boss one day to discover instead getting their pay, they're given a list of 35 names, all people who owe the shark money. The thugs spend the rest of the day trying to literally and figuratively scare up some money from the deadbeats, only to have their plans backfire on them before Monday draws to a close. Poniedzialek/Monday was the directorial debut from cinematographer Witold Adamek, who shot several projects for Krzysztof Kieslowski, among others.
