The ethno-spiritual documentary Sattyer Gahney (or "Truth and Beyond") lies rooted in the implicit observation that a vast chasm exists between the traditions and practices in the Muslim faith (where music embodies one of the vital components) and traditions and practices in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, which almost completely shuns musical activity in favor of super-pious, self-ascetic worship. Using this key difference as a springboard, Sattyer Gahney travels to Bangladesh and evaluates the ways in which music shapes that country's Islamic celebrations and rituals, and thus forms a dramatic contrast with the Orthodox Christian worship of Eastern Europe.
