Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Son of the Pusta is the English-language title of the intense Hungarian drama Sarga Csiko. Ferenc Kiss plays an unfortunate soul who spends 15 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. Finally released from prison, he tries to make a new life for himself, only to have his trail dogged by a pair of scuzzy blackmailers. Kiss in finally freed from his emotional bondage when the actual murderer is uncovered. The oddest part of film is that the killer is not punished, but merely forgiven. Perhaps it's just as well, since the guilty party happens to be the father of the young heroine who is in love with Kiss's son.
