Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
A heroin-addicted musician finds his growing dependence on drugs taking a sizable toll on both his career and his marriage in Iranian director Dariush Mehrjui incisive addiction drama. Ali (Bahram Radan) plays a traditional stringed instrument called the santoor. A liberal young musician married to the beautiful Hanieh (Golshifteh Farahani), Ali suffers from a crippling dependency on heroin. Could it be that his country's current cultural repression is somehow connected to the rampant drug addiction that has claimed the lives of so many dejected citizens?
