Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In this studied historical thriller, the mind of the killer of a comic writer is explored. It is based on the true story of the murder of August von Kotzebue in 1819. Karl Ludwig Sand, a theology student, did the deed. Viewers of delicate sensitivities may find the scene involving the dissection of a corpse disturbing and uncomfortable. This is the first film directed by stage director Peter Palitzsch, a protégé of Bertolt Brecht.
