Synopsis
Part 1 of Canadian science broadcaster David Suzuki's four-part exploration of the interconnectedness of life on Earth provides a series overview as it covers such diverse subjects as the correlation between salmon runs and tree growth in a British Columbia forest, and the "music" made (on a computer) by the constantly changing beats of a healthy heart. Suzuki also visits Canadian space-shuttle astronaut Julie Payette, who tells him: "You look down and you realize that this planet is the only thing we have."
