Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Prolific French actor-director Mario Bonnard called the shots on the German historical melodrama Russia. According to the official studio publicity, the film tells the "true story" of the various revolutionary factions who banded together to overthrow the Russian Czarist regime in 1917. Studiously avoiding sensationalism and exaggeration, Bonnard could not help but turn out a dull film, which he did. Of marginal value was a subplot concerning the romance between a Russian nobleman and a peasant girl. Although future director Wilhelm Dieterle played a supporting role in Russia, the film does not appear in his "official" published resumes.
