Synopsis by Ryan Shriver

After servicing the sexual needs of the masculine population of Naples for the better part of two decades, Rosa Funzeca (Ida Di Benedetto) decides to segue into a respectable profession, while reconnecting with her son Fernando (Primo Reggiani). With the money she has saved up over the years, Rosa buys a house and starts renting a stall in the market to sell flowers. Fernando -- who up until now has been raised in a Catholic institution -- is happy to be with his mother, but is also just as happy to spend his time with his thuggish friends. Further adding to the growing conflict at home is Fernando's truant tendencies, which bring mother and son into conflict time and again. As Rosa's troubles at home increase, so do her professional ones as her business tanks -- forcing her to return to the dangerous streets in order to round up some much-needed cash.
