Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
In this professionally-wrought period war epic, romance tries to find its way against a backdrop of civil war in 17th-century Indonesia. As the surf crashes against the shoreline, Wiroguno (W.D. Mochtar), leader of the sultan's troops, wins a thunderous battle and then cuts off the heads of the defeated officers -- but Roro Mendut (Meriam Bellina), a woman he wanted to appropriate as a part of the spoils of war, runs away with another officer. Angered at their temerity, Wiroguno sets off after them with vengeance as his guide.
