Synopsis
A compelling dramedy about a black teacher at an integrated L.A. high school. Created by James L. Brooks, it was praised for dealing realistically with such subjects as prejudice and drugs. At the 1969-70 Emmys, it won as Outstanding New Series, beating 'Sesame Street,' 'Marcus Welby, M.D.' 'The Forsyte Saga' and 'The Bill Cosby Show.' Karen Valentine and Michael Constantine won supporting Emmys for the series.
