Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Robotech: The Movie is a feature-length version of the daytime cartoon series Robotech. The story involves the invasion of earth by the Robotech Masters, and by another group of outer-space malevolents known as the Zentraedi. As the world teeters on the brink of oblivion, several humans--including a popular singer and a courageous space pilot-- are absorbed in their own problems. Even as the bombs start dropping, the human protagonists continue to bicker over their love lives! The original Japanese title of Robotech was Macross; the new title was dictated by Revell Toys, who hoped to market a line of Robotech action figures. Robotech was re-edited and adapted for American audiences by "Japanimation" buff Carl Macek.
