Synopsis by Robert Firsching
This hard-boiled gangster film from director Giuseppe Vari was inspired by the success of Massimo Dallamano's Quelli della Calibro 38 (1976). The plot is a violent assemblage of shootouts and sex scenes involving the formation of a police anti-racketeering squad led by Inspector Gino Barelli (Antonio Sabato). Innocent bystanders are gunned down, buildings explode, people are beaten senseless, and a female schoolteacher is shot in the head before being thrown out a window. Barelli also finds time to romance a fortune-telling prostitute (Dagmar Lassander), who straps his shoulder holster across her nude torso to provide the obligatory fetishistic visuals. Luciano Pigozzi appears as a drug-dealing informant. Tough, gritty, and fast-paced, Vari's film should delight fans of the Italian crime genre.
