Synopsis by Mark Deming
Before he rose to superstardom as a country singer, Kenny Rogers enjoyed his first taste of fame as the leader of the pop group Kenny Rogers & the First Edition, and in 1971 the group became hosts of a weekly television series, Rollin' on the River, which also featured guest appearances from a number of top acts of the 1970s. Remember the '70s: Greatest Hits Live features highlights from the show's archives, including rare performances by Jim Croce, Al Green, Ike & Tina Turner, B.B. King, Bill Withers, and more, including two songs from Kenny Rogers & the First Edition.
