Synopsis by Alice Day

Daniel Saltzman reads the featured book Fly Away Home by Eve Bunting, which deals with homelessness in a sensitive manner. A boy and his father seek shelter in an airport, hoping that no one will suspect their true situation. Despite his circumstances, the boy is optimistic. Host LeVar Burton discusses how it feels to be homeless, with several children who have no place to call their own. Two enterprising young people who are helping the homeless in their individual ways are also featured in Reading Rainbow: Fly Away Home.
