Synopsis by Hal Erickson

This cable-TV special documents the controversial efforts of zoologist/filmmaker John Varty to remove certain rare animals from captivity and restore them to their natural habitat. In this instance, Varty and animal trainer Dave Salmoni have taken Ron and Julie, a pair of Bengal Tigers, from the metropolitan zoo that has been their home since they were cubs and released them in the wild -- not the Asian wild of their birth, but South Africa. In addition to "prepping" the tigers to live and roam in freedom, Varty and Salmoni must also train the animals to be predators -- easily the most dangerous aspect of the assignment. Living With Tigers strives to be equitable by pointing out that several distinguished zoologists heartily disapprove of Varty's noble experiment.
