Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

This simple, somber Italian love story focuses upon two nuns who catch but a taste of love before it is snatched away. The film's soundtrack consists of a single female voice singing 12th and 13th century chants. The story represents the deathbed reminiscence of sister Anna. It begins in childhood where she is seen praying beside her mother and continues into her entry into a convent. It is a quiet life and initially happy until a nun's suicide creates doubts in Anna's, then still a novitiate, mind. She continues to silently brood until the day that Natalie arrives. Gradually the two become close until convent gossip and disapproval separates them. They do manage to have one passionate night together. Such was the only joy in Anna's life.
