Synopsis by Mark Deming
While trends in dance music come and go, in Washington, D.C. Go-Go -- a funky blend of polyrhythmic percussion, horns, keyboards, and chanted vocals -- has ruled the R&B scene for more than two decades, and Chuck Brown has been the King of Go-Go ever since his single "Bustin' Loose" hit the top of the national R&B charts in 1978. Put Your Hands Up! The Tribute Concert to Chuck Brown is a performance video which captures Brown and his group the Soul Searchers in a typically exuberant performance, with a number of special guests stopping by to join in, including E.U. (featuring Sugar Bear), Back Yard, Ju Ju, Big Tony, and more.
