Synopsis by Hal Erickson

June Mathis, best known to motion-picture posterity as the screenwriter who discovered Rudolph Valentino, penned the screenplay for Metro's The Purple Lady. Ralph Hertz stars as Silas Gilworthy, the pious chairman of the Uplift Society. Gilworthy's current targets for persecution are the "wicked" tango parlors which proliferate in his community. Tango dancer Fifi Melotte (Irene Howley), unwilling to give up her livelihood, decides to get even with Gilworthy by making him fall in love with her. The film continues in this semi-comic vein until the main complication is introduced: A string of stolen pearls, which somehow find their way into Gilworthy's pocket.
