Synopsis by Janiss Garza

In this charming and innocent picture, Lila Lee plays Gloria O'Connell, the sixteen-year-old daughter of a newly-rich hod carrier (Charles Murray). In her suddenly affluent surroundings, Gloria finds herself courted by two boys: "Hippo" Harger (Lincoln Stedman), who as his name implies is quite chubby, and James Gordon Oliver (Harold Goodwin), the proverbial "boy next door." Gloria and James fall in love and spend all their time together, much to the disapproval of Gloria's aunt. When the young couple fall asleep on the balcony of Gloria's home, the aunt reads something scandalous into the harmless situation and sends the girl to live with relatives in another town. Unfortunately for Gloria, the place is noted for its proliferation of old maids. But James has promised to write every day, and even figures out a way to visit her -- he's gotten a job on a newspaper and convinces his boss to send him to do a story on its old maids. When he arrives, he finds that Gloria has gone out for a drive with Hippo. James leaves in a fit of jealousy, and Gloria threatens to marry Hippo. Just before she goes through with it, James returns and the two of them make up. Paramount made much ado of the fact that they borrowed Charles Murray from the Mack Sennett Studios especially as comic relief for this picture.
