BBC's 1967 film rendition of Henry James' novel Portrait of a Lady adheres closely to the book's style of dramatization by using an abundance of dialogue to divulge the story of a young woman's romantic endeavors. Surrounded by courters, a beautiful American woman embraces the charm of wealth when her aunt relocates her to England. When she receives an inheritance to support herself, she is resolved of the desperation of the decision amongst her suitors. The long-winded drama demonstrates a methodical British venture of transforming literature into visual entertainment.
