The lives of two Eastern European hookers, and two losers adrift in a pitiless city are paralleled in this Italian drama. The stories are set in Turin, which is presented as a lonely, grim, and violent city. Happiness is hard to find in this harsh environment as 30-year old Alberto, a door-to-door salesman, and his best friend Luigi, a social worker, well know. Both of them are bored with their jobs, lonely and depressed. Together they spend their nights in bars and discos searching for women. Cinzia, from Bulgaria, and Christina, a Russian, are call girls. They hate their job and are desperate to escape. Alberto and Luigi have seen them, and secretly long for the women. Toward the movie's end the four come together for an upbeat finale.
