Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Liza Davitch's documentary Ploshad Pobebi (Victory Squaare) charts the complex relationship between a mother and daughter in Belarus. A fortysomething Tania is perturbed that her daughter Nastia is involved with a morally shaky married man. Nastia is outraged that her mother has rekindled a relationship with Igor, the stepfather Nastia has detested for as long as she can remember. A major decision by Nastia forces everyone to come to terms with each other. The project was edited down to ninety minutes from almost thirty hours of raw material.
