Synopsis
Arguably the best of the golden-age dramatic anthologies (and one of the last), this series premiered such works as 'The Days of Wine and Roses'; 'Judgment at Nuremberg'; and 'Requiem for a Heavyweight,' the Rod Serling teleplay that was its second presentation (the first, also by Serling, was 'Forbidden Area'). Known for its lavish budgets, 'Playhouse' attracted big-name actors and top directors (among them: John Frankenheimer, Arthur Penn and Franklin J. Schaffner).
